Practical Nursing
Practical nursing provides individual and group nursing care which requires the
application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, social, and nursing
sciences at the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist,
podiatrist, optometrist or chiropractor. An LPN is a practical nurse who
has passed the state examination for licensure. Nursing is a rapidly
expanding field. LPNs appreciate job opportunities in a variety of health
care settings including long-term care, physicians' offices, school, home health
care, governmental agencies and some acute care facilities

Our Program
The Knox County Career Center School of Practical Nursing is a post-secondary
program approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and the Ohio Department of
Education, Division of Vocational and Career Education. It is accredited by the
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Since the school began in
September of 1979 it has been housed in the Vocational High School in Mount
Vernon. The program is a 44 week (1270 hours) day time program including
classroom, laboratory instruction as well as supervised clinical instruction.

Goals
We strive to provide highest quality nursing education through the instruction
of nursing sciences and skills so that our graduates are highly prepared for the
state licensing exam and entry into professional practice as a licensed
practical nurse.
